Setyembre 29, 2006 at 3:02 hapon (Uncategorized)

Ayun. Finally. The typhoon has passed, the electricity is back on and the internet online. Blessing or curse? We got no class. Flipside, there ain’t no power half the time, there’re people who got hurt, people who died (may they rest in peace), people who’ve got no communication, no water, no nothing. There’re people who’ve lost property and all the other stuff that you know people get when there’s something bad like this that happens. But then still. No school. No chem portfolio, no soc sci deadline. Cool.

Yesterday, we heard on the radio, “We at meralco are working double time to fix the problem.” You know the meralco commercial? The one where they’re playing billiards? It’s just like saying, “Come on dude! We gotta finish this game faster so we can get to work again!” “Dude, I’m trying to play billiards as fast as I can. It takes accuracy. We can let the people wait.” And then there’s the stupid question: If the entire metro manila is in a black out, is there a brown out too in meralco? So they’re all like, “Damn! I can’t find the switch to turn on the power! It’s brown out here!”

Damn. The things you think up during a black out.

My mom came home from work this morning. She’s a doctor from Manila Doctors. She brings a story from the hospital.

“…grabe talaga the typhoon. You know, the nursery diba? The glass window there biglang got sucked out! As in! And the room was in danger because the roof could cave in! So the nurses and other people were hurrying to get the babies and the incubators out. No one died naman, pero there was this man who was helping and when the roof caved in, it fell on him….”

Ouch.

I was watching the news. Really horrible shit. You can really see the destruction. Then there’s the news that there’s another one coming. Crap. They say it’s even stronger than the first one. Even more crap. Right now, I’m reminded of two teachers. There’s Mam Andaya. And her EnSci class. It reminds me of the movie day after tomorrow. Prolly a climate shift or something. I mean, two typhoons? In the same week? Defintely some crazy climate shift thing. Then I get reminded of Mam Dacs. “Natural calamities are a density-dependent limiting factor of a population.”

But I gotta hand it to the Filipinos, for in no time at all, the country would normalize. And everything would go back to what it was. That’s a good trait ’bout filipinos. Y’know, I’d bet if all the first world countries would go through the same thing our country did, as in terrorist and rebel attacks, typhoons, flashfloods, land slides, I’d say they’d be third world countries right now. And if we had the same situation as those first world countries, we’d be a first would country too.

The first test.

“Let’s see how much he’s learned over the years. Send out a test probe.”

Walking home is not my favorite hobby. But then it still gives me time to think of everything I need to do. Usually, I see people on the street and it makes me wonder how they get through the day. I wonder how come there are people who don’t care for these people. I wonder why I don’t.

Taking a right from my usual route, I decide to take a short cut. Just a small short cut. To avoid the traffic. But then from behind…

“Holdap ‘to.”

TPOV

The robber was holding out a thin, rusty swiss knife. He held one hand around the neck of the boy. PJ sighed. He was used to stuff like these. He stomped his right foot onto the robber’s foot, rammed his elbow into his solar plexis, turned and palmed a thrust to the nose and kicked the groin.

He took several steps back, hitched his bag and continued walking.

As if it wasn’t enough, the robber got up, picked up the knife and charged towards PJ, who sidestepped, grabbed the weapon hand, pushed the elbow joint, twisted the arm behind the man, maneuvered his foot to trip the guy, sending him sprawling on the floor.

PJ kept walking. And the robber persisted. PJ turned and looked at the man. He saw in his eyes determination. The guy really wanted a fight. And so PJ put down his bag.

The man rolled over, did a chinese get-up. (wow, when did holdapers learn to do chinese get-ups?) The robber punched. Pj blocked it with an back hand and countered it with a axe-kick, which got held by an upper block by the robber. In the deadlock, PJ did a Folha Seca (a backsault launched by a kick) and landed on his feet. The robber did a backflip and finished off with a handspring.

Seriously. If the robber knew how to do shit like this, he isn’t a robber.

The guy did a bullet kick, followed up by a scissors kick. PJ backstepped, sidestepped and countered a turning side kick, which connected to air for the robber wasn’t there anymore. He was already prepping for another assault.

He man landed onto a short ginga, then proceeded to do an au (cartwheel) followed by an au malandro (another cartwheel, but with feet outstretched as to kick) . PJ took a negativa stance and launched into an angola.

After a few more rounds, they found each other looking at each other.

“Who’re you?”

The man roared in reply. He threw the knife at PJ, who caught it in mid-air, but was not quick enough to react to the simultaneous kick to the gut.

Being a small person in frame, it knocked the wind out of him. But it didn’t slow him down. As quick as he was down, he rebounded and fired an answering punch to the stomach and a kick to the chin. He then did a turning long, a heel kick, and a jumping out-in kick. He finished off with a side kick and it definitely finished the guy.

And Pj grabbed his bag and continued to walk home.

WALANG F-ING PASOK!!!!!

Setyembre 27, 2006 at 6:17 hapon (Uncategorized)

AMPUCHAAAA!!!!!!!! WALANG PASOK! There’s no classes tomorrow. According to the news.  http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/storypage.aspx?StoryID=51553

So what does this mean to me? A WHOLE lot of stuff. I can do my chem, i can do my socsci, i can do my geom.

I like having no classes. As long as there’s power. Then it’s fun. Just me, my computer and the rest of the world with my 56k.modem and dial-up connection.

Today in p6, we microwaved marshmallows. And most of my groupmates didn’t like the marshmallows. So i ate it all up. You know how sticky marshmallows get when they’re melted? You know how soft and gooey marshmellows get when they’re melted? You know how gross it looks when you grab a handul of marshmallows and stuff it in your mouth? You know how weird it looks? You know how much sugar there was in there? You know how high I was afterwards?

Nothing of much importance has happened afterwards that deserves mentioning. Well, there are some that do but I still have to cram stuff.

And sorry ’bout not writting ’bout the fair kasi the website for the fair hasn’t been made yet. Oh well….

I’m not cramming. Really.

Setyembre 26, 2006 at 8:16 hapon (Uncategorized)

I’m cramming. Because i’m doing stuff that i should’ve done millions of years ago, but didn’t. Because I’m PJ Tolentino. And so there. Right now, I’m cramming Chem portfolio, ES portfolio and SocSci Script. The latter two I just need to print. The Chem Portfolio needs some work though…

I can’t really think of much to say because… I’m cramming. And I’m exhausting all my brain power to finish the Chem Portfolio.

All in all, this is not one of the better posts. But due to my determination to have at least a post everyday, here this is.

Don’t worry… babawi ako next post… it’ll be about the fair. XD and astig fair natin.

Mercury is bad for your health.

Setyembre 25, 2006 at 6:05 hapon (Uncategorized)

Seriously. Mercury is bad. Today during soc sci was the continuing part of this thingy we’re watching… some documentary ’bout the first emperor of china. ‘Twas cool and all, ‘cept for the part where he ate mercury. And mercury is bad for your health. I mean, he was a really really healthy dude, but he died at 50. I don’t wanna die at 50. So I wont take mercury. Simple as that.

Yesterday, I tried to double post. But i couldn’t. Because the school is evil. and prevented me from writing. which was really really sad. It gave me too much homework. So there. But at least I finished English. But that’s about it.

And for some strange reason, I seemed to have made it a habit to string synthesize while using the computer. Kewl. That’s better than me being tempted to play DOTA or something. Which is ok.

Yesterday, I had the most wonderful chat with a friend. Let us hide him under the alias NOLD-ar. Now nold-ar is a 2nd year student in an imaginary school called Reivax. He told me that the the quality of the arts-scene there is really degrading. It’s so degrading that I laugh and feel sorry and not feel sorry and be amazed all at the same time.

He told me the story that the best band in their year practiced only about twice a month. Which is ok, considering the talent the band has got. But then it gets worse. In their school, everyone knows how to play guitar. Seriously. To most people, that’d be cool. Except that they start playing… gay songs… as in… songs like…. Hale...And that is extremely sad. And everyone knows how to strum. And if you can pluck, you are revered. But then it gets even worserer.

There are no more art or music classes, and the guidance counselor is a guitar demon. Or just a demon. I dunno. And before, our glee club had so many ZOMGWTFH members. But now, they’re just down to WTF many members. It’s that few.

People there think simple plan is the height of rock music, they don’t know what the hell jazz is, or at least they’ll pretend not to know ‘cuz it’s old school mehn. Then they think NICKELBACK IS A DAMN HEAVY METAL BAND. And people don’t know that ordertaker is a parody of the chopsuey/toxicity of System of a Down. Oh, you didn’t know it either? Now you know.

Then you have people who walk around listening to fall out boy who then claim out loud, “What’s your music? Wahaha! langkwenta music mo!”

Lord. Please help this guy. Nold-ar, thanks for the recap. Now i know i’m lucky. A bit.

somebody_to_fear: this third year guy
somebody_to_fear: weirdo
somebody_to_fear: approached ramon and dj
somebody_to_fear: and was like
somebody_to_fear: “hey do you guys play GEeetar?”
somebody_to_fear: and they’re like
somebody_to_fear: “yeah” and
somebody_to_fear: they solo a bit
somebody_to_fear: and then the guy goes
smebody_to_fear: “KEWL! LEMME TEACH YOU HOW TO PLAY HA-YUHL!” then he starts playing that annoying song.

The two-week hell week

Setyembre 24, 2006 at 6:07 umaga (Uncategorized)

Hell week is starting again. It starts from tomorrow all the way ’till next week. It’s even more hell for us SCI people. We’ve got three Art project shit to finish. Then we’ve got that EnSci thing. Not to mention the Geom project, the English Profile and the Chem Portfolio. All in all that’s…1…+ 3….. about 7 stuff. Wow.

Then there’s the walang kamatayang TXV… I haven’t started yet, but then as far as i know, I’m not alone. Lots of people don’t even have research. Which is cool. But then not cool. I’d better get started.

By the way, do you remember my past life? The life I had before this one. The one where i was still back in xavier, back when I still had a patch in my polo, back when i didn’t have to wear an ID all day, back when i was more free to do shit, back when me and my krew were just there, back before pisay. Well, I wish I could go back and continue xavier. It was nice there. It’s not nice where I am now. But then people tell me, Pero dude, you’re in a CO-ed school! We still have to cross a block to even reach Ica! Sure. Maybe that’d be nice for YOU… and have you even seen…(?) Eh… ok yun… At least you don’t have to pay for anything. The Government pays for you. Hello? Are we talking about the same Government? The same Philippine Government? And do you see the utilities, equipment and crap we have here? And all the same, we still pay. We pay for a hell of a lot of things. And our parents pay taxes. So it all goes back anyway.

I miss Xavier. No, I don’t miss Xavier. I miss my krew. my krew and everyone else in Xavier.

Yesterday, after our exciting art adventure, I bought a new Biomnilar Overturical Wave-frequencier device for my String Synthesizer . Can’t wait for my electric one though. I hope it comes soon. XD

Today is a sunday. So I think I’ll double post today.

Banned Band

Setyembre 22, 2006 at 6:59 hapon (Uncategorized)

Today was friday. The first time the four of us would play together on the song. The four with Daryll on keyboard, Jio on bass, Jiggs on lead and me on string synthesizer.

It was ASTIIIIIIG! Jio was doing this really really kewl thing on teh bass, and if he manages to pull of the solo of the song we’re working on, I bow down before him.

Then there’s Jiggs, he was doing his thingy too. He likes scratching his Guitar. And playing it on a loud volume. Especially in the caf. Hehe.

There was also Daryll. Now Daryll, he’s been playing piano since…uh… summer. That’s about…. 6 months ago. And he hasn’t taken lessons. At all. But then he manages really well and is easily taught, but he gets OP most of the time because he can’t follow. But he will soon. The most astiiiiig thing he did was plug his keyboard in the AmP and made it distorted, which sounded really… rock. Astiiiiiig!

Then there was me. Wala lang. I do what I do. And that is to string synthesize. (From this point on, i refuse to call what I do violining, or to me referred to as a violinist. I will be called a string synthsist, I string synthesize, and my instrument is a string synthesizer.)

We practiced in the morning, we practiced during lunch (in a undisclosed location that i’ll be you’ll never find…even if the volume was turned all the way up) and we practiced in the caf.

Anyway, let’s leave the band behind.

Today, I was stuck in Geom. You know what? There was an assignment. And I didn’t know. So i ended up copying. It was the first time i copied without understanding what I was copying. So it really sucked. Anyway, that was it. Oh yeah, there’s this thing Sir Mardan, (our Geom teacher) was teaching us that he wanted us to give a name for a theorem. It’s that thing where a+b+c=180, something about the measure of angles. So I gave him the name: SIR MARDAN where:

S-sum of

I-interior

R-remote angles

M-measure

A-a

R-relative

D-degree of

A-a hundred

N-’n’ eighty

And I think that name really rocked, better than the other names the other classes gave like, T180 or SMAT…

By the way, there’s this thingy. Y’know the TXV community blog? Yeah. There’s some asshole who’s working on Korea and has already passed to sir! Can you believe that guy? How much more for the rest of us? Well, i can tell you, who ever that asshole is, that guy’s got a lotta moxie, and has dedication. Conspiracists, we’ve got to find out who that person is. And get that person.
